The 2nd Regular Meeting of the National Council on Niger Delta slated for 7th-14th September, 2017, has commenced in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, who declared the technical meeting open at the International Centre for Culture and Events,(The Dome), expressed the view that Ondo State has not been receiving its fair share in the projects execution and management positions in the Niger Delta intervention agencies.
The Governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Alfred Agboola Ajayi, charged all agencies of government involved in the development of the Niger Delta Region to embrace the change mantra of the present administration.
" It's our fervent desire that all agencies of government involved with the development of the Niger Delta would also key into the change mantra to ensuring equitable distribution and finding of development projects across the length and breadth of the region", he said.
The 'Town Hall ' session of the one-week summit will be declared open next Tuesday by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the International Event Centre (The Dome) on Igbatoro Road in Akure.
The conference is aimed at finding lasting peace in the Niger Delta states.
The conference, with the theme: Fast-Tracking the Development and Peace in Niger Delta is being organized by the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs in collaboration with Ondo State Government through Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission,(OSOPADEC).
Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Yemi Olowolabi, said all is set for the conference's logistics, security and other necessities.
