A telephone call from President
Muhammadu Buhari to Yemi Osinbajo,
disrupted a meeting the acting
president was having with stakeholders
in Edo state on Monday, March 6, for
about 3 minutes.
The deliberation also suffered hitches
when aggrieved group supposedly
from neighboring state insisted to be
given opportunity to make their
presentation, a confusion that turned
the visit of the Acting President to a
rowdy session. Leadership reports.
The protesters requested that the
acting president leave Benin, for oil
producing parts of the state in Edo
creeks.
A protester, who represented Pan
Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF),
expressed frustration over failure of
the acting president to visit the oil
producing parts of the state.
He said that they had already
prepared their region to receive the
acting president, but were told he
could not come due to security
reasons.
“If you can’t come to our place, leave our
oil alone,” he said.
Another protester complained that the
region was not feeling the impact of
the ministry of Niger Delta like other
states in the region.
