The Sunshine players’ peaceful protest turned out to be a violent protest today, 22nd of February 2017 as they break into Governor’s office in the capital of Ondo state, Akure and assault the Chief Security Officer.

The protest turned out to be violent because a tear gas was shot in the midst of the sunshine players while protesting outside the governor’s office gate over their unpaid salaries.

According to one of the players, who want to remain anonymous, the government has owed them for five months, while they go hungry and live without any penny.

A security man attached to the security government house and protocol however shot in the air to scare the players, this act, triggered the anger of the protesters.

The protest already started about a week ago by blocking different government offices.

Protesters marched outside the governor’s office and vouched not to stop protesting until their request is being answered.

However, some senior government officials addressed the protesters and persuaded them to remain calm while the issue is being addressed by government.
