KSU ASUU Embarks On An Indefinite Strike That Could Last For Six Months


Acadamic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Kogi State University, after exhaustive and interactions with the NEC visitation team resolved at embarking on an indefinite strike action, beginning from today 3rd, February, 2016.

The total and indefinite strike action was based on the press for;

The immediate reconstitution of the University Governing Council because it is anomalous running the University without a Governing Council.

The immediate payment of all outstanding salaries owed because some members have not been paid for 8 months due to wide screening exercise.

The ASUU branch vowed to remain focused and mobilized to sustain the strike action until after due consultation with NEC.

However, the Joint Action Congress (JAC) of All Non Teaching Staff Unions of the state, owned tertiary institutions equally embarked on an indefinite strike action since Tuesday 31, January.

This blog gathered that, the strike action could last for nothing less than 6 months; the strike action would however distort the 2017 Academic Calendar.
