A Ugandan man was left blind and
disfigured for life after a jealous and
greedy uncle poured acid on his face
in an attempt to kill him so that he
could inherit his late brother's assets.
Meddie could no longer work and
local stigma over his appearance
meant his small businesses failed
quickly. Fortunately, his wife Habiba
Nansubuga stood by her through his
difficulties and they now have seven
children together.
Meddie is still undergoing regular
skin grafts to improve his appearance,
which he nevertheless has learnt to
live with.His uncle was arrested soon after the
incident and incarcerated for a few
months. However, he never went to
trial and was eventually released as a
free man. He passed away in 2014.
Meddie says he has forgiven his uncle
and has left everything to God.
