It was a tragedy moment in Madagali Market in
Adamawa as a twin bomb hit the market leaving about 45 dead, 57 critically
injured and 120 wounded in the blast. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)
Coordinator in charge of Adamawa and Taraba, Mr Sa’ad Bello, has confirmed the blast.
Also confirming the incident, the Chairman of
Madagali Local Government, Alhaji Yusuf Mohammed, said the incident which
occurred around noon was at the animal and grains sections of the market.
He furthered described the attack as a setback to relative peace enjoyed by residents who resumed normal commercial and social activities following successful military operations.
Mr Muhammed called on the federal government to deploy soldiers to the surrounding areas where he said Boko Haram insurgents had set up camps.
