Social media addiction is not a disease nor drugs usage. It is a phrase describing someone who spends much time on the social media. It becomes an addiction because of the rate at which it interferes with other aspects of life.
In other words, social media usage becomes an addiction when it is associated with heavy or exercise usage.
Social media addiction involves a compulsive behavior that leads to negative effects.
