For the first time since I started drawing, I decided to use a pen (Biro) to draw and it was an interesting experience for me. I’d quickly like to share five (5) lessons I learnt from the whole process.
1. Sometimes, you need some people to actually JumpStart you into doing something you never knew you could do or somethingy you knew you could do but only running away from it. I was sitting on my own when a friend of mine told me, ‘Tobi, you know you can draw with a pen’. I tried to give excuses but in the end, I did. Drop your excuses today and do something great.
2. Watch where you leave your marks, not all lines can be erased. Unlike drawing with a pencil where you can use erasers to remove mistakes and unwanted lines, drawing with a pen doesn’t give
room for that. You have to be very sure before placing the pen on the paper. So is it in our relationship with others. We should watch what we say or do to everyone around us because some of the hurtful memories may never be erased.
3. Patience does it.
Drawing with a pencil sometimes takes me just a few hours, but I used almost a week to finish the picture I drew with a pen. For some pictures in our life to be perfect, we have to draw them
with patience and learn never to rush some certain decisions in our life.
4. It may not always look like it.
In my drawing, I discovered that the semblance was not accurate from the very start but I didn’t stop.
That the future you have planned isn’t looking like it is not enough reason for you to stop working towards it. Keep doing what you should do, and at the very end, you will be glad you pressed on.
5. Have the picture in mind always.
Staying focused on what you want to achieve will go a long way in curbing unnecessary pictures life may want to throw your way. Know exactly the picture of life you want and carefully draw it to
the end.
Remember, you are the artist of your life. How beautiful do you want the picture to look?
